Former AV Champions, Inc. (A+ Sports Academy) participant receives Master Degree from Northern Arizona University.

5/18/15 Lancaster, CA

Derrin Ford, became a participant of AV Champions, Inc. while attending Palmdale High School.   Ford, a former local football star was a 3 time varsity starter, member of 3 Golden League football titles and received 2nd team all CIF Conference honors as a defensive back in 2008 as a senior.

Ford understood the importance of academic and life skill achievement and wanted to get some job experience working in the corporate arena.   AV Champions, Inc. recognized Ford’s career aspirations and was able to get Ford a summer internship job at Edwards Federal Credit Union.  Ford performed well and enjoyed working at the Credit Union.  Ford felt his experience at the Credit Union was good for him because it allowed him to establish a blueprint for his academic and career endeavors.

Ford went on to get a Bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal Communication from Azusa Pacific in 2012 while playing football at the University as a defensive back.

After graduating from Azusa Pacific Ford worked for Fox Sports One as a Production Assistant for a year.  Shortly thereafter, Ford thought it was best for him to pursue his master’s degree.   He was accepted at Northern Arizona University where he obtained a Master’s in Education Psychology (MED).

AV Champions, Inc. is proud of Ford’s accomplishments.  More importantly, Ford’s career passion “to utilize his previous experiences to encourage student athletes to maximize their potential in and out the classroom,” is appropriately aligned with our mission.  A true testament that our program is making a difference with our local youth in the Antelope Valley.  Congratulations Derrin Ford!

Ford’s favorite quote:  “You lose at nothing if you learn from everything.”
